BEEKEEPING DEVELOPMENT UNIT
BDU BOX
Our
beekeeping outreach project continues to offer beekeeping extension
services to beekeepers in 5 target Districts of Kenya (Nakuru, Kericho,
Bomet, Baringo and Koibatek). Our emphasis on practical skills training
is proving very successful with overwhelming demand for our services.
This has led to developing and augmenting our farmer-to-farmer
outreach services and pushing for increased collaboration with other
stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Livestock, Non-Governmental
Organisations and Churches.
The project can be much more effective and have wider reach when
we work with and through others to build their beekeeping capacity,
by providing technical backup, support and training.
Beekeeping
shortcourses
A very positive recent development in the Kenyan beekeeping Industry
is the establishment of the new National beekeeping organisation
The
Kenya Honey Council. Baraka fully supports the collaboration
of different beekeeping stakeholders for the growth of the Kenyas
beekeeping industry.
BDU works closely with the Baraka Highland Honey (BHH) More
about BHH
We would like to thank Self
Help Development International (SHDI) from Ireland, for continuing
to support the good work of BDU in Kenya.
